Missing Cockateil

A couple of months back my friends Kat and Evan were kind enough to adopt two badly abused cockatiels from the Toronto Humane Society, these two birds recovered from their traumatic past quickly in Kat’s care and soon had two eggs. The eggs hatched into two adorable little babies. Recently Spike, one of the babies, chewed through the window screen and disappeared into downtown London Ontario.
They’ve done everything humanly possible to find their lost bird, this is all the information they have about the location of their cockatiel. If you have any information at all or any suggestions as to how they can find their bird we would really appreciate your help. You can call Kat and Evan or call or email myself. Thanks so much.

Spike chewed through our window screen and flew away on the evening of August 6th. Although we lost her in downtown London, we received a call from a man named Dwayne who was in a local hospital. The day before, he had been beside a liver transplant patient whose last name is Tait (not sure of the spelling though). His first name is possibly Roy or John and he supposedly lives “near the water, near or on highway 3, in the Dunnville area.” The only information we have is that he does not want to give her back despite the fact that he is very poor and will not be able to keep our bird alive for very long. He was a heavy drinker, most likely at the local bars, and he has a wife & kids. The last piece of information we have is that he’s a frequent fisherman in the area and has a boat. He had his liver transplant around July 14-16 and will be returning to London for occasional physiotherapy. While he was in town, he also adopted a dog, although we’re not sure what type of dog or if he stole it. We have filed a police report with the London and the Dunnville Area police departments but because she has a low monetary value, this case will not be made a priority.
Spike was born on Easter this year and is still young enough to need special care and food. She’s a grey cockatiel with white shoulders, some yellow on her face, dark beak and feet, and a yellow-grey speckled tail. Her wings are clipped but she is obviously still able to fly. Her flight feathers are grey with yellow spots on the underside, and grey on top. We raised her from an egg and she means the world to us. She also has a twin sister that is having a hard time with the separation.
If anyone has any information (even a hunch) about Mr. Tait (possibly another spelling) or Spike, please call us anytime, day or night. 519-439-7577 or 519-777-4570. Even if you just know someone in the Dunnville area who has had recent surgery in London, or anyone who has found a grey cockatiel ANYWHERE, please, please call us. We have her parents and sister so we are definitely able to do and pay for a DNA test if it comes down to it.
Thank-you.
