MatriXBox
Thanks to the good people at Decal Girl, I was able to give my XBox a sweet skin. I love it. I think it looks awsome!
Pickling
Staysea and I went last Saturday with the Attisano family to the Kitchener Farmer’s Market and I managed to pick up some pickling cucumbers and thought I would try out pickling. I remember there being home made pickles when I was very young, around 3 or 4 living in Calgary. But I obviously didn’t remember how to make them. But then I found PickleNet. It is an invaluable resource for pickling anything at all. Mine should be ready to eat tomorrow evening, at least according to the recipe. I don’t know if I buy that, but there are 6 jars to try so we’ll see.
UPDATE: They are excellent, very tasty indeed!

Yay, my moded XBox lives again. I had to replace the motherboard after it died suddenly back in February. And now, with the new motherboard installed, it lives again. Hurray!

That would be Happie’s favorite toy. He’ll eat a bone in 15 minutes, but he loves his squeaky toy. Yes, many an annoying hours are passed by him walking through the house, gently squeezing his plush leopard print toy with it’s melodic ’squeak’
Google is too Funny
I found this on Kevin Rose’s Site. Type ‘bastards’ into Google and hit ‘I’m feeling Lucky’.
1 commentEcto 2.0 Beta
I’m very excited, I get to be part of the ecto 2.0 beta. Ecto is the software I use to post to my blog. The Mac version is written by Adriaan Tijsseling. I find it invaluable when updating and adding to my blog. In fact this will be my first post with the new version. I already like the changed layout. I’ll let you know how it goes.
No commentsAVP is for the Fans
Paul, Aman and I went to see Aliens vs. Predator. It is definitely written with the fans in mind. If you have not seen Aliens and both Predator movies, then this is probably not for you. There is a lot of information that is required knowledge for the viewer to clear up some of the confusion of exactly what is going on. For the fans it’s worth the $9 to see in the theatre. For the casual movie goer, I’d wait; although, I will be adding it to my DVD collection next spring.
No commentsFable
I’ve been waiting, like many people, for the release of Fable for XBox. It’s a role playing game, that is supposed to let you live out an entire life from childhood to death and every choice you make and everything you do changes your character in some little way. Get seriously wounded, you’ll have a scar when it heals. Be mean to people, they won’t like you so much when you come back around those parts. It’s a medieval/fantasy type setting and is due out in Sept. IGN has a great 12 page review, check it out

No commentsJapan Launches Solar Sail
Japan successfully launched the world’s first solar sail. Basically it a large thin sail that catches radiation and over time accelerates, indefinitely. The acceleration is slow as inertia needs to be overcome, and extremely large sails would have to be used to move a ship. But with no need for fuel, it is a first step towards deep space probes.
No commentsInstitute of Space and Astronautical Science | JAXA:
“ISAS succeeded in deploying a big thin film for solar sail in space for the first time in the world.
ISAS launched a small rocket S-310-34 from Uchinoura Space Center in Kagoshima, Japan, at 17:15, August 9, 2004 (Japan Standard Time). The launch was the culmination of a historic new technology, and the success this time has really made a great achievement in the history of solar sail.
A solar sail is a spacecraft without a rocket engine. It is pushed along directly by light particles from the Sun, reflecting off its giant sails. Because it carries no fuel and keeps accelerating over almost unlimited distances, it is the only technology now in existence that can one day take us to the stars.”
Help Make Blogs More Visible!
There are by some estimates more than a million weblogs. But most of them get no visibility in search engines. Only a few “A-List” blogs get into the top search engine results for a given topic, while the majority of blogs just don’t get noticed. The reason is that the smaller blogs don’t have enough links pointing to them. But this posting could solve that. Let’s help the smaller blogs get more visibility!
This posting is GoMeme 4.0. It is part of an experiment to see if we can create a blog posting that helps 1000’s of blogs get higher rankings in Google. So far we have tried 3 earlier variations. Our first test, GoMeme 1.0, spread to nearly 740 blogs in 2.5 days. This new version 4.0 is shorter, simpler, and fits more easily into your blog.
Why are we doing this? We want to help thousands of blogs get more visibility in Google and other search engines. How does it work? Just follow the instructions below to re-post this meme in your blog and add your URL to the end of the Path List below. As the meme spreads onwards from your blog, so will your URL. Later, when your blog is indexed by search engines, they will see the links pointing to your blog from all the downstream blogs that got this via you, which will cause them to rank your blog higher in search results. Everyone in the Path List below benefits in a similar way as this meme spreads. Try it!
Instructions: Just copy this entire post and paste it into your blog. Then add your URL to the end of the path list below, and pass it on! (Make sure you add your URLs as live links or HTML code to the Path List below.)
Path List
1. Minding the Planet
2. Luke Hutteman’s public virtual MemoryStream
3. You’ve Been Haacked! and you like it.
4. Jason’s Life (Jason & Staysea)
5. (your URL goes here! But first, please copy this line and move it down to the next line for the next person).
(NOTE: Be sure you paste live links for the Path List or use HTML code.)
