Hey, ya know that thing called Windows update? Go there right now and update your system.
Then every morning when you wake up do it again. Microsoft is only partially to blame for the spread of viruses and worms. There are millions of lines of code here, and holes happen. They write the patches, provide them for free and you need to install them. Why? Because your inaction and lack of responsibility makes everyone else’s life on the internet hell. If you have a cable modem or an always connected DLS line, this is doubly so.
Understand that when you’re not at your computer and even when you are, the internet is busy talking to your computer. Trying to get in, trying to sell you stuff, trying to protect you and trying to communicate your needs and ideas across the globe.
As a part of a global community, wired together, it’s important for everyone to do their small part to keep it a nice place to be.
