Ahh.. new place.
I’ll have photos online for you a little later, but we are in the process of moving everything up from downstairs into our new digs.
It’s really nice. Of course the first thing moved up was the couch and entertainment center
Then the bed and my office with my desk and the servers.
Tonight we’re having a BBQ and Open house for our friends and family to take a look around but before that happens there are some more things that need moving.. So on to that.
Comments are off for this postBlaster Worm
Hey, ya know that thing called Windows update? Go there right now and update your system.
Then every morning when you wake up do it again. Microsoft is only partially to blame for the spread of viruses and worms. There are millions of lines of code here, and holes happen. They write the patches, provide them for free and you need to install them. Why? Because your inaction and lack of responsibility makes everyone else’s life on the internet hell. If you have a cable modem or an always connected DLS line, this is doubly so.
Understand that when you’re not at your computer and even when you are, the internet is busy talking to your computer. Trying to get in, trying to sell you stuff, trying to protect you and trying to communicate your needs and ideas across the globe.
As a part of a global community, wired together, it’s important for everyone to do their small part to keep it a nice place to be.
iDrives and Apache 2
So I have been fiddling around with this article I found about setting up your webserver to act like an iTools server.
This allows usage of Apple backup and the iDrive with virtually unlimited disk space.
UPDATE:
Apple backup is the crappiest backup program in the world and sucks. I’m going to write my own.
Can I borrow a cup of Volts?
Last night was fun with no power. Today we got kicked out of our pool as it was taken over by the Red Cross as an emergency center.
The power appears to be on pretty consistently here in Ottawa but they are still talking about rolling blackouts.
We’re off for some dinner downtown with our buddy John. See you later.

We’re in Nepean, just outside Ottawa at Algonquin College. And we’re all tired but we unpacked

Deals at Home Depot on Drills
So, I learned that my 7.2 volt cordless drill is great for little projects here and there, but not so hot for driving a bunch of deck screws. Just like the deck screws holding the frames for the window seats.
I wasn’t going to do anything about it, but I was in Home Depot and they had a Black and Decker display with some 14 volt drills with a 24 position clutch for only $69.95. Great! Problem, that’s the one on display but the only 14 volt ones they had where 6 position clutch models. Odd I thought, and the only 24 clutch ones where 9.6 volts, a hair better than what I already had. So, Ray and I (since Ray was with me), wandered over to the actual tool section, low and behold, there are 18 volt drills with a 24 position clutch. The price? $69 flat.
Right, so, I shopped around in the same store found the next model up and it was a buck cheaper?!?! Whatever.
Word to the wise, if you don’t like the prices in Home Depot, look around they probably have something better for less.
More Painting
The living room is looking a lot better. I cut in most of the walls tonight, while Staysea and her friend Kyle worked on the kitchen. Speaking of the kitchen, it’s looking really good. The second coat really filled it out.
The living room looks better too with the dark paint, but I can’t paint it till tomorrow when there is more light.
Got my screenshot working again.
My desktop screenshot is working again. You can see it in the side bar down the left side.
This time I’m using an app called Spy. Pretty simple to use. I then wrote a script to update my site with the image, no matter where I am.
