Jay’s Life

I’m like a superhero with no powers or motivation, and she’s my Lois Lane.

Johnny and Sonia

This just happened so I decided to write it down while fresh in my mind.

I was driving back West on the QEW just past Dixie. Yvonne was with me, I was driving her home after a party at Mike’s.

I spotted a car pointing the wrong way with the front of the hood smashed in. It looked like it hit the guard rail, caught an edge and spun around. I pulled over to the shoulder, and got across the road to the car.

There where two people in the front seat a man in the passenger and a woman driver. I couldn’t get the driver door open, so a bystander helped get both of them out with me on the passenger side. The man, Johnny, was holding the woman, Sonia. He was very upset, and concerened for his wife. I managed to get Johnny to loosen his grip enough to take a good look at her. He was in shock but, refused treatment for himself.

I gave him the new job of holding Sonia’s hand. I she was holding her face, there was a good amount of blood, both on her clothing and hands. When I got her hand free, she had a 5cm laceration on her front left lower lip. Right at the crease above her chin. It looked like she probably put her tooth through it. I grabbed Johnny’s bandana from his head and had her hold it to her face, while I continued to assess for any spinal injury and her breathing and airway. With Johnny holding Soinia, I managed to get both of them sitting.

A second bystander offered a package of gauze, left, and a third offered some ice. I gave her the gauze for her chin, and the ice for her cheek and hand. A secondary run down showed no secondary injuries. Johnny was calming down and still very supportive. She was aware of where she was and calm. She swallowed some blood, but was not feeling nausious or sleepy. There where no signs of head injury. She did have some neck pain, but no secondary signs of a spinal, loss of mobility, tingling or numbness. After about 15 minutes, Fire arrived, allowed me to continue support while they reassesed Sonia. EMS showed up shortly after and took both Johnny and Sonia into the ambulance. OPP arrived minutes later and I checked to see if they needed any information from me and left.

I hope that my presence helped keep both of them deal with a very stressful and upseting moment. And that Sonia only has a tiny scar.
