Good Will at Tim Hortons
Today on my ride to work, like any other day, I stopped at Tim Hortons to get my bagel. Unfortunately, the interact system was down and I couldn’t pay with my card. Exiting the store still hungry and a little annoyed, a nice gentleman who had asked me previously about my bike offered to buy my breakfast, awesome! But as he lent me the $2, an employee walked out carrying my bagel, they had already made it when they saw me pull up.
I’ll pay for it on Monday.
No commentsFly Fishing
I went fly fishing yesterday for the first time; Carl and Ronda took me. I got some bites but didn’t land anything. Both Carl and Ronda caught one. I did manage to get better at casting, and placing my fly where I wanted. Maybe I’ll luck out better next time.
Happie came along too and spent the time playing around in the river, as long as the water wasn’t too deep.
No commentsBest Birthday Gift
Staysea bought me an iPad for my birthday and it came on Friday. I have to say that it is a dream come true. This is the device I saw people on Star Trek using. It is a higher resolution screen than my first 3 computers and does more in color no less. We’ve come a long way and I can only imagine what our children will be using, because I can tell you that I never thought that the things I saw on Star Trek would be part of my every day life.
Posted from my iPad.
No commentsNews – Conjecture vs Fact
Apple has a media event planed for later today, where they plan to announce something.
Now, this morning, while listening to CFRB 1010, a trusted News agency, they reported that it would be in fact an Apple Tablet, reporting it’s size somewhere between an iPhone and a laptop. It would play music, display books and movies and cost around $1,000.
ALL of that is conjecture and speculation. None of it is fact. Since Apple has yet to announce the product, and they wouldn’t announce it to separate news agencies before their event, my news report contained fabrications. Statements portrayed as Truth with no reliable source to back them up.
This kind of main stream reporting tends to happen more frequently in the technology sector. Especially with high profile consumer electronics where there is a LOT of conjecture by the technology blogs, including cleverly created images depicting mock-ups of these fictitious devices.
I’m going to wait and see what the announcement is, because it does interest me as a person who enjoys technology. Who knows maybe this mornings lies will be this evenings truths. But it doesn’t excuse the lie.

Well, the new year is upon me and I’m still sick. Have been since the 31st. Missed going to kiss Staysea at new years. But I did get to see Ian and Emily’s beautiful daughters, as they were kind enough to drop by.
It’s been a while since I posted. I don’t know why. I’ll try to do better in the new year. Might even make this a private blog, not sure yet.

I went to my first real concert tonight, Metallica! Lots of great songs from my teenage years, and some new ones. It was awesome to sing Enter Sandman, while the band played it live. It was a lot of fun and probably the only time I’ll go to a concert for a big name band.
The simple reason, is that I couldn’t get out of the back of my mind that I paid $100 for a ticket to watch 4 millionaires do what they really seem to love to do.
It was still amazing though, and a lot of fun, and off my bucket list.

I picked my first lock today. I was able to open my friends overhead cabinet at her desk, she lost her key a while back. Now she has snacks.
3 commentsApollo 11 Launch 40 Years Later
Thanks to the JFK Presidential Library and NASA, starting today, you can visit http://www.wechoosethemoon.org and follow in real time, the Apollo 11 mission. Including audio of CAPCOM, the Ship and Eagle (When it gets to the moon).
It’s a spectacular site. Once the mission is over the whole site will be re-playable in any order, but for now, it’s a blow by blow of the mission just as it was 40 years ago.
When I think of the technology I cary around in my pocket on a daily basis and how it would run circles against the best that NASA had when this mission was launched, this mission is truly a testament to the men and women of the space mission. Amazing.
